Who we are

Founded in 2014, La Jolla Taiko, the resident performance ensemble at Ōnami Taiko Center in San Diego, masterfully weaves traditional taiko with global and contemporary influences. They collectively create a soundscape where heritage meets innovation, pushing the boundaries of both cultural and artistic expression.

Ōnami Taiko Center is a vibrant taiko drumming community in San Diego that celebrates music, collaboration, and artistic exploration. They offer workshops, classes, and performance opportunities for all experience levels, fostering creativity, continuous learning, and self-improvement.

La Jolla Taiko regularly performs at events across the San Diego area, including at LEGOLAND, SeaWorld, the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park, and at various company and community events. Each year, Ōnami Taiko Center students and La Jolla Taiko showcase their pieces at an annual Taiko Beats concert in the fall.
